Sir Nigel Gresley not Mallard!

Mallard is the holder of the world speed record for steam locomotives at 125.88 mph (202.58 km/h). The record was achieved on 3 July 1938 on the slight downward grade of Stoke Bank south of Grantham on the East Coast Main Line,

  • Nice, both whistles too. i was on this trip, "The London Christmas Steam Express" from Newcastle, Durham, Darlington and York to Kings Cross.

    i was walking through Kings Cross to St Pancras and couldnt believe my luck when i saw Sir Nigel Gresley .. last time that happenned to me was in 1961 !

  • Nice to see the steam locos stil aloud on the main line they're more reliable that the electric trains trhat we use today i think
