The National Children's Orchestra of Great Britain's Main Orchestra performs Sir Edward Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance at Symphony Hall, Birmingham. The performance was part of the NCO's 30th Anniversary gala concert, held on 31 August 2008. Produced by Black Swan Film and Video.

    Jingoistic - yes, we like a bit of that in England. Although how a piece of music can be aggressive towards someone is beyond me. Art and films yes, music no!

  • Good performance by the orchestra. Rather a challenge to take this piece on as just about everyone in England knows the tempo of the piece and how it should be played. Well done. Yes, the brass section were very good.

    One gripe for me: when the main theme is being played by the strings @ 2.33 onwards we do not get one shot of them playing. Bad editing or maybe there was a camera fault and the shots couldn’t be used. It is crying out for several shots of the strings at 3.00 onwards.

  • If I didn't know better I would think that I was listening to the London symphony Orchestra.These kids are simply amazing! Prodigies all.

  • amazing...such maturity...particularly liked the brass. pity the piece is so jingoist though!
