The 49ers entered Week 12 against the New Orleans Saints with a quarterback controversy on their hands following Alex Smith's Week 10 concussion. With Week 12 in the books, that controversy may have come to an end. While Jim Harbaugh has yet to declare a starter, Colin Kaepernick appears to have done enough through two starts to justify a continued starting role for the 49ers. David Fucillo of Niners Nation explores some of the reasons why.

Well, the bias critics might finally get their way with Kaepernick after he lost the Superbowl. He could probably be replaced by Alex Smith. It's no surprise that men like Kaepernick get little to no breaks while Eli Manning was given the opportunity to learn from his mistakes which allowed him to grow to the point of winning the Superbowl.

Fuck Jim Harbaugh. I liked him until this bonehead move. Yeah ok Kaepernick won a game while Alex Smith sits on the bench w/ a concussion. But come just cuz he beat the Bears doesnt mean he should just all of a sudden start. I mean I guess the lesson here is never get hurt of if your replacement does better than you youre out of the job.

  • bluesjammingman .

Really? So in what game has Kap completed 70% of his passes? ZERO.

If you think Smith can't win a SB then you are clearly an idiot.

Bottom line is Kaap can do everything Smith does. Plus he can run and has a stronger arm. I don't believe this is a risky move because Alex Smith is not going to win you a Super Bowl regardless. He can't beat you with his arm.

no ur wrong, the fortyniners has very good core of recievers the only problem was having a decent quarterback to throw them the ball down field. and with kaepernick they have more than a decent qb, they have a budding star, and mark my words he will continue to make good on the trust harbaugh has invested in him. and as for alex smith well, i do feel sorry for him but thats just the nature of the game.
