Over the years CBS News has been considered, by many, the most newsworthy network newscast and, by others, liberally biased. Its history has been dominated by its personalities from Edward R. Murrow, Walter Cronkite, Dan Rather, and now Katie Couric. Ironically, all of these news persons have, after leaving CBS, critiqued television for overemphasizing entertainment values. As you watch this video, does Dan Rather exemplify newsworthy reporting or commentary? Does (s)he also exemplify entertainment values at the expense of newsworthy reporting or commentary?
These images on this screen symbolize the fall of American prestige aound the world. How could the United States of America, the most powerful country in the world be defeated a "raggedy-ass little fourth rate people" as Lyndon Johnson onced referred to the North Vietnamese. How?

No, back then it wasn't about "entertainment" news. It was about strictly doing the news and nothing but.
