In playing Super Robot Wars MX if an Evangelion defended against the Nadesico the AT field would block but not if it attacked first (as happened in Boss encounters, I would consider the Nadesico "a Boss" on the opposite side.) I guess the energy from the attack would temporarily dissipate, leaving the Eva vulnerable?
