This is the very music cue that was played when Ken Basin lost $475,000 during the million-dollar question, on the August 23, 2009 episode of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire 10th Anniversary Celebration with Regis Philbin. The program originally aired in the United States on ABC and Canada on CityTV.

Before Millionaire originally launched in the United Kingdom back in 1998 on ITV, television and musical theatre composers Keith and Matthew Strachan penned and performed this dreaded, most insulting cut of music in all of worldwide television game shows, usually played when a contestant lost on the fifteenth and final question on any version of Millionaire worldwide.

Please visit http://www.matthewstrachan.co.uk and send Keith and Matthew some kudos for composing the Millionaire musical library.

  • i just watched Jacky and lawrence luellen Bowen's million pound (UK) loss (which was 3 years prior to Basin). this cue wasn't used when they lost sounded like the 1/2 million fail. but their ? was so tricky they were given a 2nd chance and walked.

  • Megaupload shut down by government officials

    *cue 1.000.000$ question wrong sound*

  • If this theme was played in the original millionaire if I was younger I would have massive nightmares.

  • I've known about this sound effect since the first PC game.

  • there goes my sweet dreams for tonight

  • This gives me a good idea about how to REALLY scare the trick-or-treaters this year.

  • Thee only thing that could have been any worse than this is if they played a sound clip of a bunch of people laughing at you.

  • Imagine if someone went for $10 million but lost $4,900,000 on Super Millionaire. Then this plays. Probably would have been the most depressing moment in game show history.

  • It's 1:38 AM, and I'm up late watching this. I have the video paused at 0:07, and I'm not gonna continue. Too scared. D8

  • YOU'VE LOST THE GAME
