In genesis2:17god warned man if they eat the they will surely die. In EZEKIEL18:4,20 soul can die. ECCLESIASTES 9:5-6 the dead has no life or any feelings of pain. Even Jesus says the dead are asleep. On ACTS 2:34 king David"did not ascend to heaven",he's still dead to this day. In REVELATION 20:14 The lake of fire is the second DEATH.
