This song alone gives Jay-Z the right to be called one of the top 5 rappers humanity has ever seen.
He's literally explaining the reason behind dumbing down his lyrics and seemingly losing his talent--mainstream audiences care more for beats and catchy hooks as opposed to good quality content.
He talks about how he'd be better if "skills sold" and criticizes those who criticize him but praise his meaningless content.
One of the truest songs I have ever had the good fortune to hear.
