@GeorgiaIsOnMyMind Agreed! Here's hoping things get more rational in the US soon.

You're welcome emmetgirl. Hijra comes from "hich" = nothing, hijra implying "of no gender". I'm so happy the Pakistani government decided not to use this term for official purposes. I'm also happy that transgendered people in Pakistan can feel 'complete' without feeling like they are being 'bullied' in to SRS ( so to be officially recognized) the way many transgendered people in the U.S people feel. In my opinion, telling individuals they will be official only after SRS is wrong.

@GeorgiaIsOnMyMind Thanks for the moreinfo! I didn't know that hijra wasn't considered a polite term. Too bad the article failed to report that accurately...

Pakistani ID cards say "Khawaja Sara"(transgender) not "hijra" which isn't a formal/nice word. The good thing about these ID cards is that pre-operative Pakistani transgenders can now enjoy a 'separate' identity unlike say the United States where transgendered people may not legally change their gender until they undergo SRS. SRS is fairly costly and not everyone can afford it. Also many transgenders simply don't care to have it. In Pakistan pre-op trans are officially recognized.

you're wonderful.

YOU'RE AT HOME??
No one tells me anything.

it's actually been not so bad in my chunk of canada this week. by which i mean it's been warm enough that it's not a problem that i lose mittens like crazy. we were supposed to have big scary freezing rain, but nothing tooooo horrific has materialized yet. anyways, ice storms are the most emotionally confusing weather because they make everything so pretty while causing so much destruction. they are like the pathetic fallacy of entropy.
glad you're liking school! thanks for sharing your haps!

Nothing much is new. School is still difficult but I enjoy going.
Hope your doing fine up there, it's cold as hell. Down here in Oklahoma it is really nice temperature wise.

i believe it's "hijra", but they may have a truncated version of it, like how they just put m or f on licenses? but it said hijra in the article.
Booyah is a perfectly good phrase.
The links are to your left.
Here's to healthy focus in your not-in-school and hen and Beard related pursuits.

yeah, the news video was kind of an experiment. i really like when other people do them. might give it another go soon. i think katie might be correct that this was really the result of me missing ranting about stuff with her in her kitchen. + i'm still missing that.
