December 10, 2008 - The Liberal Party executive appointed Micheal Ignatieff as the interim leader of the Liberal Party until he is acclaimed at a formal leadership convention in May 2009.
Ignatieff took direct aim at Stephen Harper in his first press conference as Liberal leader, saying he is prepared to defeat the Conservatives and lead a coalition government.

"I am prepared to vote non-confidence in this government. And I am prepared to enter into a coalition government with our partners." - Micheal Ignatieff

  • come on, screw off and just let harper do his job that people ELECTED him to do.

He has a plan, why do you say he doesnt??

  • Ignatieff doesn't exactly sound eager to work with Harper.

This is just how Dion started out, what makes Iggy think anything will be different this time around. I'm just surprised he hasn't mentioned the "hidden agenda" or compared Harper to Bush yet.

  • @mikefastener no the previous Governments under Keating and Hawke did that without their reforms Howard would've had nothing because like most Liberal PM's they do nothing aside from screw the constituents.

  • @irishgodfatherchris Again several reasons for Australia's success (having had a recent government led by Mr. Howard certainly helped).

  • @irishgodfatherchris But again, Australia is not part of the "Big Boys" club right?

    (Canada is.)

  • and we also have large domestic demand for products which is why our economy has survived

  • @mikefastener you've been harping on about then G8 for a long time even though it no longer exists. you are doing better than the UK and US agreed but consider this Australia will be in surplus before the next election (thats less than 3 years away)

  • @irishgodfatherchris Sorry, but Australia is not part of the G7 (the big boys). In addition, you have a huge amount of resource industries supplying to China which helps.

"Canada will not be out of debt for a long time....not the backbone of a stable economy"

    Better than the other G7's...agreed?

  • @mikefastener really here in Australia we have the best performing Western Economy, we will be out of debt before everyone else, Canada will not be out of debt for a long time that is not the backbone of a stable economy

  • This is as exciting as he gets....

Unless he's getting flustered and gaffing another press conference

  • @BoredomCorner Amazing! Leaders from around the world coming to an economic conference in Canada to learn how Mr. Harper has made Canada the envy of the world during this economic crisis! Wow--we are all so proud him!

Better a PM who understands me (a hockey dad) than a Russian Count who has been out of the country for 42 years, right?
