this song is only good aesthetically... the song is about succumbing to substance... the true beauty of the song, elliott's version, is the sadness that it captures because of it... this version simply tries to make sadness out of a bit of slow music and a pretty voice; it doesn't work like that. nice to listen to, but it doesn't do the song true justice

I love this cover, but I disagree that this version is better. Elliott's version has a certain substance to it, as do many of his other songs, that feels very genuine. He was singing from the heart. I am not saying that Madeleine isn't, necessarily, but... agree to disagree?
