I have never seen Maynard look happier than at 2:26. It is beautiful to see this great and deserving musician have such a rewarding moment in his life.

@tuffer020 Absolutely, you don't know what you said

I am a Maynard lover all the way and I am a trumpet player as well who listens to him for inspiration BUT although Maynard is a gifted player, a time came when his low notes were shit. He even said it himself MANY times as he went to be a guess at music colleges (and others). He told the trumpets never to mimic his tone because it was crap.
Doesn't change the fact that I respect him tenfold.

maynard ferguson is amazing! he was well known for high notes, but he never did forget the lower ones too...

I was there. I had tears in my eyes. Maynard could play anything, any style, any where. He wasn't just a screamer... listen to his work with Chris Conner... A true legend.

@dallas1963 Olympic organizing committees are control freaks and they try to limit the chance for mistakes, so they make most performers at the ceremonies synch or mime the music. It has happened at virtually every Olympics, with only a few major exceptions.

Maynard Ferguson fans are almost as strange as Michale Jackson fans...

@tpstrat14 too damn funny!!! and true.
You can't play high if you can't play low.
