Body Art Quality Henna (BAQ)
Choose henna that is body art quality to ensure that you get good color. I purchase BAQ (body art quality) Henna from www.Mehandi.com . Your hair will start out a much brighter color and darken over the next two days. If you want an even darker color henna your hair several times to build up layers of color. For maintenance of your color, henna once every month or two. You can henna just your roots instead of the whole head.

A recent tip: Apply coconut oil on hair after rinsing the henna out and wait at least 6 hours before washing/conditioning/adding products to your hair.

Will 1 - 5 hours be long enough? 1 - 5 hours has been noted to be long enough to set the color. Some choose to keep it in longer. Once the dye has been released that's it, therefore more applications deepens the color than time kept in.

*If lemon juice is too drying, the best alternative would be to use strong chamomile tea which has conditioning properties.
*Heated but do not boil liquids, boiling liquid will cause immediate dye release (once the dye starts to release you only have so much time to apply the henna).
*Terps aka EO's facilitate quicker dye release over time and don't affect consistency, the best terp is Tea Tree Oil.

Does Henna Paste have to be packed and 'caked' on... I've been thinking about this since my last two applications, and then someone answered my question through comment... so no it doesn't have to be caked on, but you do not want it hair dye thin either but just enough to cover your hair and you will still received great results (once you put on your plastic cap, your body heat will help distribute the henna dye.)

If my hair is naturally black, why did I buy indigo? When I did my first Henna purchase, I also purchased Indigo in case I didn't like the reddish tint, so far so good, but I still have my back up whenever I no longer want the reddish tint.

  • Thank you for this tutorial:) I didn't know you had to let it sit so long before using it. I've been using it for years, and didn't know that. I've gotten great results, but now that I know you have to let it turn brown on top, I think the color will be even richer:) Thanks again, CC

If your way's been working for you, I wouldn't change it (O:. With henna you want the dyes to release but not too much (let the henna sit too long) nor quickly (surrounding temperature or water added was too hot)... in other words, accoding to the conditions, some henna releases quicker than others. The henna used in this vlog, releases dyes within minutes so i apply it almost immediately after mixing (after the top layer changes color).

  • What do you do on your skin? it is so even?

  • @macabo87

It's not perfect but to keep it as clear as possible, when I do not wear makeup I only wash my face with warm water (a tip from a friend who has perfectly clear skin who once stated 'I do not know why people wash their faces with soap, you only need water). When I wear makeup I do the Oil Cleansing Method to cleanse also I take vitamin A to keep it as clear from acne as possible... details of it is in the more info of my vlog 6 random facts.

  • I live near NO. Where do you get your henna?

  • Hi! OK, Man I hope you respond soon! Lol. Serious questions:)

My mom wants me to henna her hair so we went to our local beauty supply store and bought this jovees henna & brahmi. She expects it to completely take away her grey hair, but Idk if it will do so. This is henna for hair & I TOLD her we needed the body art henna! Gah:/ Have you ever heard of this brand and do you think it will work?

  • Hey Treasure I am so glad I saw this! I brought BAC Henna but only 35gms so I have to get more. I was checking out other videos this weekend and you mentioned some of the same things they did plus extra. I know you do your research so I will be following your method. Thanks so much, this was right on time for me!
