I did this as a multi-track recording. The whistle I used was a Clarke original in D for the melody. The accompaniment line and the solo middle break were played on my home made low D whistle.

The Clarke whistles are harder to blow than the ones with the plastic tops, but I find they they sound better and play in tune better across their range. A very flute like tone.

  • What program did u use to combine the sounds, etc.?

  • @buzzy918 I used Audacity which is open source free software.

  • how do u make a tin whistle? Can u make a tutorial on how to make the one you made for the solo in the middle of the song?

  • I wrote an article about this. Do a google search for "how to make a low d penny whistle" and you should find it is at the top of the first page.

  • Great job with the multi-tracking...I love the low whistle in accompaniment with the penny whistle! The sound quality could use a little work but you still did a great job.

  • I have done another mix of the same recorded tracks and uploaded it today. Its a lot better. You will find it under my username on youtube.

  • Can we play chords for penny whistle ?

  • @hostroute Seee if your software has a Dynamic mixing feature..That will often compress any distortion...I am a sound engineer and producer for several Radio stations

and that always works for me.

  • What brand whistle did you do the main lyrics with? Key of D?

  • Thanks!
