@kimatoz3 I'm a bit too young to have seen the Faces but they are, for me, one of the best bands of that period. Jeff Beck had the makings of a great band with Woody and Rod Stewart but I'm glad they split so we got the Faces.

@Tapiola2007 I see your point. I, too adored the Faces, saw them about 4 times. But, I really liked Ron Wood with Jeff Beck, too.

@kimatoz3 Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of Ron Wood but instead of being a creative force in the Stones he has played a role more in keeping with that of a session player. It seems to me the biggest influence he has had on the Stones is acting as a general all round good guy, keeping the peace between Mick and Keith. I just wish the Faces had stayed together. Rod Stewart wanted to go it alone as an international superstar and Ronnie Lane packed it in when Rod let the band down. Shame!

@kimatoz3 As much as I love Woody, he gave up being a serious guitarist when he joined the Stones. Rather than growing as a player, he stagnated, settling into his role as second fiddle to Keith Richards. Take an honest look at what he was doing with The Faces and as a solo artist before he got the call to replace Mick Taylor and you have to agree.

Genuinely nice bloke, great guitarist and guitars. Can't fault the man. Long live Ronnie!

@1991stratplus He/they use both tunings for many guitar parts. i also capo up in the 5th for some of their stuff...very cool style, indeed. open G is a wonderful tuning
Ronnie KNOWS his guitars and he can certainly make make them wail! Take a listen to the "Ronnie Wood and Keith Richards Jamming" video. Amazing.

@Tapiola2007 Perhaps you are right...but I hope not. I do believe the Stones tried to get Ronnie Wood a couple of times, surely cause they knew a top guitar player.
