I agree - great sound for its time. Electronic amplification came out about 1925 or 26. But by the late 30's it was even more improved. Too bad the depression put a damper on sound recording technology. Columbia was experimenting with long-play 33 1/3 in early 30's - but no money was available for developement. We had to wait until after WWII for LP.

Actually Paul Whiteman was hailed as the best band leader of the 1920's and had 28 number 1 hits. Bix Biederbeck was phenomanal also, but passed away at a very young age. Paul has his rightful place in vintage history and he was amazing.

Whiteman was an innovator and his sound was always sophisticated and original. He is one the best in my opinion, glad you like him too.
