"It was a flip dark chill winter bastard, though dry ".....
The flipside of our first single - 1979. Inspired by Anthony Burgess' seminal novel about Alex De Large, a psychopathic teenage gang leader. "A Clockwork Orange" is a savage and dystopian vision of the future. The 1971 film adaptation was directed by Stanley Kubrick.

  • Why no credit to Kubrick or McDowell. Shame!

  • Kubrick is credited. I am really interested in the original work by Anthony Burgess - without which no film would exist.

  • Fantastic! Can I get this on CD anywhere.I was too young to remember the Scars, but a guy I worked with from Dumfy gave me a single 'Love Song' on PRE records by the Scars (with psychomodo on B-Side)hence I've been looking for earlier stuff since - why aren't they mentioned in the same breath as the Postcard Bands - Did Alan Horne fall out wi' Bob Last?

  • Take a look at 'The Sound Of Young Scotland' (YouTube) for a bit of inside track on the Postcard/Fast thing. Most of the bands on these two labels went to see each other a lot, and were cross - influenced whether they'd admit it or not. That whole Glasgow v Edinburgh thing was always a bit pathetic, but an issue for some I know. We certainly never gave it a second thought. As for Bob and Alan? two very different animals for sure.

  • Yet more brilliance from Scars. Why did you guys only bring out one album?

  • Hubris...then decadence....then implosion. Common when one marries so young

  • Really want the lyrics, if anyone can link me to them!

  • Clockwork Orange, nice one!

  • Still without question my favorite single of all time, Still as searing and acerbic as it was when i first heard it on John Peel, still gives me goosebumps. Scars probably had more impact on me than any other band of the time. Skived off work and followed them everywhere

  • Still sounds staggering after all these years. Always will.

  • real horror show.

  • Wow, so many of these great tracks are unavailable on the recent CD compilation. I'm still amazed I never heard of Scars.
