  • Yes the dog can be trained to work without the tape. It would be a 50 mtr line that he would work on. This dog would be consistant in finding buried and exposed IED's. The most important thing is the choice of handlers and dogs, you are right, Malinois or Dutch Shepherd is the best choice, especially for consistancy.

    Thanks

  • Although slow and consistant is good in a mine field for small buried mines, the hides for IED's are larger and a lot of times more exposed than buried. ie triggers and pressure plates. The IED dog should work a little faster and his nose doesn't have to be as close to the ground like and MDD dog. But I agree with you the MDD type training would be more consistant although it takes a little longer than 1 to 4 wks to train. Thank you for the question, we need more conversation on this subject.

  • Are you able to training this dog without using yelow tape to go straight with pressure and consistancy and return back on command ....and regarding IED that will be 100 metters straight...

BtW myself prefer Belgium shepards (Malinois much beter drive)

    Cheers

  • I have worked and trained with MDD for over 10 years and that the use

of MDD's with their slow and consistant speed and their ability to find

buried and exposed hides, I think that with my personal experience they

would have an advantage to find IED's .
