An Attitude of Tolerance is what the ppl of subcontinent desperately needs even today. One question arises. Are religions really so important that even giving them precedence over countries integrity and self dependency can be justified?I personally think whatever happened in 1947 was a result of our religious intolerant nature and bent towards extremism. One thing can be easily admitted that partition is the answer of NOTHING!!!!!!

"I think the worst thing was that we couldn't stop all the violence"...The worst understatement ever...Mountbatten killed by an IRA bomb...fully deserved..

Pamela Hicks...Are you fucking real? Feeling proud about your mother visiting the refugee camps after your father and the entire British colonical setup bungled big time and led to large scale massacre...Shame on you BITCH...

Lahore was 'only' home to muslims?? well then how come we still have sikhs, christians, hindus, buddhists etc living in lahore. get your damned facts right will you! Those who live in lahore now stayed after partition, go and ask them if lahore was ever only for muslims

muslims never fought for freedom of india. It was only the hindus who fought and died for freedom. Muslims got their own country for free.

I have been researching on this issue for long....I sadly come to believe....It was a good decision due to the reasons that were engineered before partition...some of the reasons are in the above clips as well...but in the end this decision let this nation into mess....I wish we were not departed...providing the fact that those hatred and inequality would have been erased too among muslims and non muslims

@TheSwingers123 I think ideally the British wanted or hoped it could be peaceful but it was the Indians themselves that proved it could not be by their mistrust of each other. Sure Britain could have handled it better and maintained troop levels and order and perhaps made a better plan for refugees. But it was no longer their country anymore. Also Britain had its own problems after just fighting WW2 and the British people had no desire to maintain an empire when they were suffering at home.

No planning for movement of people ? ......were Nehru and Jinnah jokers or cowboys .....firstly they ust decide to partition nation without consent of people and then they simply lay in their safe houses to allow people to fend for themselves. Criminal negligence and lack of planning. This is what a leader is like ?
Partition was a politics of religion where we simply lost humanity

After seeing this my hatred of religion is strengthened. Muslim, Hindu, Sikh, if people didnt get too obsessed with religions, India would remain united today. Millions of horrible deaths could have been avoided.
