Try it, your abs will tense right up as you use your whole body to balance yourself and push that weight up and let it down. Its more like training your body to transfer power from the legs up. Im a fan of this exercise i so it with dumbells.

@lrowe70 the muscles holding his torso up is his abs.. so it's not chest training at all. lifting the weight just puts extra pressure on the abs :)
