It is not rare, it is mostly an option you have to request when you get your car. Any good driver wouldn't need it though...

well yes but it was very impractical. Toyota deserves credit for actually bringin such technology to the mass market, which is the important achievement here.

no you're wrong this feature has been in the prius since 2003 when the 2004 debuted just only in european and asian markets.

no need to mock a cool feature.
First, I dont see it claimed that toyota invented it, and its still very rare in vehicles, at least in america.
So its worth them showing off that they have the tech.

already invented by Toyota 10 years ago,and improved in the 2010 Toyota Prius.
