teilweise kann man kaum ein wort verstehen. schrecklich maniriert. wo bleibt die künstlerische natürlichkeit.

When some of the voice is "gone" then you have the most beautiful musical intents and colorations which is in full here. Thank you !

Thx "Yanbsn" for your sensible comment. Yes when artists get old, their voice is gone (at least compared to what it had been), and what crowds applause and cheer is less a performance than a souvenir. And thanks as well to "masacian" for this wonderful souvenir. BTW this old woman (61 then) is still charming... and would live another 30!

agreed--Elly's is my favorite!

Um is it just me or is she doing a lot of breathing with her shoulders???

This is beautifully sung, but clearly her voice is in its decline in this recording. I have heard Schwarzkopf sing this piece flawlessly-- in the Viennese style.
OH MY DIAMOND under all singers!! She is UNIQUE...a voice given from God....

Early on Dame Elizabeth made a point of never singing men's song, but Seligkiet apparently was always the exception to her rule. And why not? She sings it beautifully, the voice is firm and true and not a hint of wobble. And the interpretation: charming.
