The Gruel worm is almost as nasty as the Cybernet Macro Virus. Upon activation, it displays a fake error message. After that, it opens a bunch of standard windows folders, such as display and Time and date settings. Immediately after, it opens the CD-ROM tray. It then displays a message which reads as follows:
kIlLeRgUaTe
Your computer now is mine, Why? Because I didn't had nothing to
do and I thought, why not make the evil? Remember NOW YOUR PC IS
IN MY POWER Windows Sucks! I can't stand it anymore! Windows has
always sucked. Wake up people! It's a scam! You don't need a
faster computer. You need a better operating system. Microsoft
continuingly makes money by selling you the latest and greatest
Windows. The latest Windows version is always the most
inefficient yet, slowing down your fast computer. Also, now you
have to upgrade all your other software too because different
Windows versions are not compatible with each other! A hidden
cost not mentioned at all. It's part of the scam. Capitalism
Sucks!, Communism Sucks. KILLERGUATE.
In the video, I took out the restarting of the computer. It then shows the true nature of its payload: It hides the C: drive in the My Computer list, and removes the Run option from the Start Menu. This makes it next to impossible to remove the registry keys that the worm created. On top of this, the worm hooks all .exe, .pif, .scr and .com files to do nothing, much like the Hippi virus, making the computer basically unusable.
WHY NOT MAKE THE EVIL?

You can Open folder options to re-hook the file extensions back. And you can also type in C:\ on the address bar.

@danooct1 Hello, is there anyway I could get where/what you did to make this? My college course is doing "Ethical Hacker" and one of our projects is to make a Virus/Worm and get someone to download it via email and see if they can stop it. It's also part of our competencies for the class.. Thanks

Do you know if there are third party DOS applications that can edit registries that can be used to get around this worm?
