he also is there if the towbar fails(shear pins brake), he tell the flight deck to apply the brake,
the tug pushes the towbar left and right which turns the nose wheel left and right...........to do this steering bypass pins need to be installed or the towbar will shear, on smaller aircraft you can disconect the steering linkage, great video!!!!!!!!!!!!

hi the guy holding the white wire is the headset man(usally the engineer), the wire(lead) is usally orange, prehaps its the light. his job is to communicate between the flight deck and the tug driver, the pilot calls for pushback, the tower or ground give permission to pushback with the nose facing north east south or west,
the pilot then tells the headset man, the headset man then tells the tug driver. he give the brakes off signal, and pushes commence............also

two questions on this great video. 1. what does the guy do thats holding that white wire. and 2. how is this aircraft turning? it looks like the tractor isnt moving at a specific angle to make it move in that direction? great video :D
