A great way to see if your throat is scratched, is drink a cup of rosehip tea. If it stings, you've found your scratches. The tea helps, as does gargling warm salt water.
Room temp water with a fresh lemon squeezed in, will help keep your voice "clean". Never have dairy as it will make you sound, "back-place,nasal and like you have a cold". And don't drink too much coffee - it will give you "mouth noises"......
