i could listen to Gilels all day. I was fortunate to study with a student of his, Paul ostrovsky

Interesting interpretative contrast--on the one hand Pogorelich presenting possibly the slowest tempo one would dare to realize, while Gilels offers what I feel is the most robust. Having struggled with this deceptively simple piece, I feel that Ivo borders a bit on the eccentric but it is nonetheless rewarding to return to the piano and absorb these interpretations into one's own. Thanks to all for offering these on YT.

Excellent playing but a pity about the audio which has flattened out all the dynamics :(

Surreal and extraordinary!. The more I hear Gilels perform the more I realize his greatness, every single one of his performances are sublime and have immense impact on the listener. This moment 5 is the best ever, along with Rach's and Horowitz' moment 2, and Benno's and Jung Lin's moment 4. Thank you for sharing :-)

one would feel a well-grasped subtleness in his performance: impeccable.

Beautiful!
Breathtakingly beautiful playing, every aspect of which is judged to perfection - from the flowing tempo, which still allows every detailed nuance ample time and space to emerge, to the exquisite tonal shading and harmonic sensitivity, which enable a wide range of emotion, from innermost poetry to soaring passion, its fullest expression.
This is the work of one of the great masters captured at his stunning best.
