Bridgeport HS provides an incredible number of college and AP courses for a rural school which is known for its high minority, high poverty population. 90% of Bridgeport's school population is Hispanic and first generation and the entire school district is 100% free and reduced lunch and breakfast. The teachers at Bridgeport go beyond what they need to do to teach us. They acquire extra training and higher degrees so they are able to teach the AP and college classes.
Bridgeport HS provides so much to its students, and we students want to give back by excelling. If our school can do this for us we need to thank them by doing our best and taking the classes. Having President Obama attend our graduation ceremony will motivate us and others like us, students from minority and poverty backgrounds, and show that the students at Bridgeport HS are doing great things. It will show our families, our community, and the nation what we can do. We can achieve anything and motivate other high minority, high poverty, agricultural rural schools to do the same.
Others visit Bridgeport HS to emulate its programs. Universities like WSU come to our campus and put on extensive community events because of what we offer. BHS is welcoming and accepting of everyone regardless of age, race, socioeconomic standing, or educational ability. If we could go to school anywhere, we would all choose to attend Bridgeport - we have everything we need here and a great education.
