Told through the stories of six different men ranging in age from fourteen to eighty-six, Roots of Love documents the changing significance of hair and the turban among Sikhs in India. We see younger Sikh men abandoning their hair and turban to follow the current fashion trends, while the older generation struggles to retain the visible symbols of their religious identity. The film is a timely and relevant exploration of the inherent conflict between tradition and modernity, between pragmatism and faith. The choice of cutting one's hair is one that not only concerns the individual and his family, but an entire community.

Man I actually felt anger when he cut his hair n I'm not even Sikh. But I really admire sikhs n Sikhism . I have never ever cut my sons hair . I think I would feel like I would die if he does that .

Can't imagine doing this ever in my life, he did not sacrifice for this video, he was already going to this. A true Sikh would never give all of this up for a video. Especially at this age, after keeping hair for such a log time.

It is Guru Gobind Singh's order that u should not put a ready made turban on ur head and u must remove ur turban by undoing each pelah while the turban is still on your head otherwise HE says it is like putting on a cap and removing a cap-the word used in Gurbani is 'TOPEE' SOMEONE PLEASE POST THE COMPLETE QUOTATION FROM GURBANI.
