I suddenly have the urge to get drunk, consume copious amounts of drugs with my fashion victim bestfriend in London!
-
what on earth is this 'song' supposed to be about?Probably about pot smoking or whatever nonsense was 'fab' that week.
-
I watched this video on a Bob Dylan special and had my hair cut off the next day :-)

Truck drivin music.

Great one !!!!! love it.....

@lambcannon I'm not sure if she was a lesbian icon, but she did it for me! She married Keith Tippett so a bit of a disappointment to those of us of both sexes who were waiting in vain!

Oh, shit... At the best part (the Hammond solo of Brian Auger), the broadcasting was cutted.
On 17 Apr.2011 I had the privilege to see Mr. Auger live on Virada Cultural, São Paulo (a free outdoor show @ Largo de São Bento).

Wonderful to see this, brings back so many memories. I had my hair cut like Julie's after seeing this. I'd forgotten!
Julie sang this with Ade Edmondson as the theme to Ab Fab.
-
awesome Bob Dylan cover song ever, thanks for putting this one on youtube...:)
-
I used to do my eyes like Julie! Dad wasn't pleased!

I remember this when I was a child too. It made a lasting impression on me then and I still love it now. Those were the best times, I'm so glad I grew up in that era.

Who was that at the very Start of the footage? It looked a bit like a young toothy Roy Castle?

An absolute classic song.
-
I went to see the group before and after the record became a hit at the local R&B club at the Black Prince Old Bexley. Loved it then... love it now!
-
as 'wheels on fire' comes in, the drop in key is so sweet, then the triple lift in key- gorgeous.
-
i remember watching this on top of the pops back in 1965, believe it or not.
i especially liked the end section and i still do
This song's a timeless classic, I'm listening to this 41 years after its release and still love it as much in 2009 as I did in 1968!

Thanks for posting this. I remember loving the record at the time....especially to a young child it was mysterious and haunting. It took me another 7 years before I started to get into Dylan and know what it was all about...
Doesn't Julie sound a lot like Dusty Springfield? I didn't realize how much at the time.
Cheers.
