Reporter: As you know, the defense of the East and West is based on mutual assured destruction, which is a level of terror in both camps. The president of the United States has suggested that scientists' will be able to come up with what has been called a star wars approach to defense, which would make nuclear weapons obsolete. Maharishi, do you see this as a positive development, maybe a sign of increased, positive creativity in this country, which may be the result of your activities?

Maharishi: In what you said I see President Reagan having good intuition. It's the scientists, it's the scientists who are a great hope. It has been the scientists who have been what?, a lost hope. All the discoveries in the field, all these weapons playing out a red carpet for all destruction. But then the table is turned. Scientists of the Unified Field, scientists of the Unified Field are those scientists for whom President Reagan is intuitively placing his hope. It is the scientists who created the destruction all quick destruction. Now it is the scientists who will find an alternative and this alternative to destruction is construction.
