Spartans versus Romans

@DOSU344 Actually I came, I saw, I conquered was after caeser conquered Britain. Sparta was conquered way before Caeser. An individual spartan was tougher than an individual Roman. But war is not about individual combat. A spartan phalanx however was no match for a roman legion. While spartans were good soliders, they were mediocre generals. Roman generals on the other hand were superb. A roman Army with it's fluid tactics would simply outmaneuver an inflexible and rigid spartan army.

Caesar didn't conquer anything in Britain and got the short end of the stick there. The phrase, "Veni, vedi, vici ~ I came, I saw, I conquered", was actually uttered after his defeat of Pharnaces II of Pontus, which is modern day Turkey and the Crimean Penninsula.
It should also be noted that the Spartan general, Xanthippus, defeated the Romans not once, but twice, at the battle of Tunis and at Lilybaeum.
