LSIS Policy Seminars - Ben Hamilton-Baillie talk on risk and decision making from "Changing public services -- changing professional practices" (May to September 2010)
The 2010 LSIS summer policy seminar series was entitled Changing public services -- changing professional practices. This was a series of invitation-only events that aimed to learn from leading thinking and practice across public services to ensure that the learning and skills sector is as well-informed as possible to develop its leadership and professional practices to face the very significant challenges now and in the future.
These three video clips are of a presentation delivered by Ben Hamilton-Baillie, founder and director, Hamilton-Baillie Associates, on risk and decision-making. Using his area of expertise, reconciling traffic movement with quality public spaces in cities, towns and villages, he explored the interaction of the state and individuals in making choices and intelligently engaging with the environment. In the emerging context of the learning and skills sector this parallels reduction of regulation and control from the centre and the challenge to providers to chart their own paths.
