A lot about hip-hop, obviously, has changed, and its onetime leaders have grown decidedly old, even as a number of them are making renewed bids for cultural relevancy. (DMX is coming out with an album, huh?) With their latest collaboration, Watch the Throne, Kanye West and Jay-Z show no signs of wanting to give up their titles as hip-hop's de facto figureheads. But there's a whole new generation of kids who are taking that album title's suggestion to heart — nodding to their musical forbearers even while they stake out ground for themselves.
