10/22/09: Back2Health co-owner Adam Reid's chest workout. All work performed Zone Training (TM) style.
1) MedX Chest Press - Monster Zone set (i.e., eclectic zones, including brief rests when necessary)
2) Bowflex Decline Flye - Monster Zone set
3) Dumbbell Incline Press - Monster Zone set
Total workout time approximately 6'00.
Your terminology is not clear...the definition for 'resistance' would fit any tool used in weightlifting/bodybuilding, i.e., 'resistance training'. Rocks and soup cans would fit the bill if used. Optimal? Probably not...
Regardless, there is a difference in 'feel', and due to the lack of inertia, the Bowflex probably not cause as much microtrauma as dumbbells/cables. For those nursing joint issues/discomfort, this is a positive.

bowflex is a little different, its Resistance instead of just dead wight

Depends on how it's used...if you consider it as simply a tool to use within the broader context of 'variety', then it will work fine. Same with dumbbells, same with MedX chest press. Any tool used exclusively during every chest workout - or other body part - will eventually stop having much of an effect.
