Freezing North American Wood Frogs

These frogs freeze completely when winter comes, entering a hibernation period. They actually stop their heartbeat, and thaw when spring comes..

Interesting to see how much people are in denial about the frog's heart actually stopping. Yes, the heart completely stops and freezes along with the lungs and brain. The wood frog can perform cryonics naturally, but scientists are still attempting to figure out how to do this on humans and other animals. Once again, nature is first when it comes to the coolest technologies. It's hard to beat millions of years of evolution.

This helps to support the physics behind the cryonics movement....doing a search on cryonics will show that they are very advanced in thier science.

they have extracellular space that prevents the icekristals to damage the bloodvessels. And also sort of anti freeze for their blood.

This is to confirm that the heart and brain activity of the from does stop completely. There is no circulation of blood, no heart beating and no brain activity. By our current definition, the frog is dead. However, our definition of death is limited. The frog is not dead. In this state of cryonics, it is not alive either -- it is "viable." Like unplugging a computer from the wall, the computer is neither broken (dead) nor working (alive) -- it is "viable" with potential to work again.
