There's not really a trick to this one. Your headphone wrapping video is more ingenious. A good one I know is for guitar cables, you wrap it in a circle between your thumb and armpit . Also for really long heavy duty extension cords there's a way to braid it that makes it compact and yet easy to unravel.

I used to do this but the risk of damaging the cord is not worth saving a tie. Still good in a pinch but definitely not something I'd wana do to a cord often.
