The family of the Tampa teenaged girl who was forced to reveal her feminine sanitary pad in order to prove that she did not steal it from a South Florida CVS Pharmacy and prove her innocence spoke openly about the incident for the first time at her attorney's office in Coral Gables, Florida.
The 14- year-old girl, said she went to the Broward County CVS to buy feminine care products and was accompanied by her father, mother and aunt. According to her lawsuit, she claims that while in a bathroom stall, a CVS employee attacked her and held her against her will. The mother claims that the employee never once identified herself as a store employee.
The family insisted that the police be called and the surveillance video be reviewed in order to prove the child's innocence. The family claims that the child did not steal anything.
According to the lawsuit, the girl was compelled to remove her feminine pad that she was wearing to show that it belonged to her or be sent to jail.
Florida Consumer Rights Attorney, Spencer Aronfeld, said that the lawsuit was filed to prevent this from occurring to another child and is seeking compensation for the victim for false imprisonment and battery.
