Rails Chicago by Night- Vol. 2 (7-1-11)

The action heats up when the sun goes down! All trains in this video were shot between 8-11:30pm at various locations along the IHB and BRC in Bedford Park, Bridgeview and the Garfield Ridge neighborhood of Chicago.

1. BNSF 4750 & 1054 (C44-9W's)- eastbound manifest on the BRC at 54th and Laramie in Chicago. Missed this train coming out of Clearing and chased it all the way to the NE side of Midway Airport.

2. CEFX 1059 & CP 9715 (AC44CW's)- Missed this train in Garfield Ridge and chased it back to the west end of Clearing after a harrowing ride down an under construction Archer Ave. Pulling into Clearing as a CSX intermodal departs the facilty onto the Harlem Ave Wye to access the B&OCT.

3. WSOR 4003, 4004, 4002 & 4009 (all SD40-2's)- A pattern was developing as the previous CP train blocked the nightly Wisconsin & Southern freight out of Clearing so I chased it and caught it at 54th and Long in the City after another wild ride down Archer Ave.

4. BRC 581 (GP38-2)- Back to the west end of Clearing as a lone unit heads to Argo to pick up cars.

5. CSX 5228 & 5387 (ES44DC's)- southbound intermodal comes out of Clearing on the IHB at 71st Street in Bridgeview.

6. CSX 5248 (ES44DC) & 4755 (SD70MAC)- after the previous intermodal clears the switches, another one proceeds to access the Harlem Ave Wye into Clearing.

7. CSX 7848 (C40-8W) & 8814 (SD40-2)- a CSX manifest heads south as the previous stack train pulls into Clearing.

8. BNSF 4906 (C44-9W), 7838 (ES44DC), 5068 & 4089 (C44-9W's)- northbound auto rack train on the IHB at 71st Street.

9. NS 7549 (ES40DC)- Light movement backs up past 71st Street, hits the brakes and moves forward to access the switches to the Harlem Ave Wye into Clearing.

10. CSX 9013 (C44-9W) & 8770 (SD60M) & 5371 (ES44DC)- Another intermodal departs the CSX facility at Clearing and heads south on the IHB at 71st Street.

11. CSX 7571 (C40-8) & 8058 (SD40-2)- Yet another stack train bound for Clearing crosses 71st Street to access the Wye.

12. CN 2427 (C40-8M) & IC 1027 (SD70)- Northbound stack train on the IHB most likely bound for the CN Waukesha Sub at Franklin Park.

@THEATREofPAIN270 Thanks! I use a plain old Sony HDR CX-150 Handycam and the only lighting I use is if the headlights of my Challenger happen to be pointing towards the trains. lol

Awesome post. A couple of times it looked like you were using your own lighting. What are you filming on. I use a basic Flip, no light capabilities. Most movement by me is at night and it is dark, Just look at some of my posts. Again, Way cool post!
