This time we are using ProTools LE and a Digidesign 003 on a Mac G5 running Leopard. ProTools drives a Roland MV-8000 via Midi Clock and a rather cranky Roland SH-101 via Trigger Input both direct from the Sync-Lock. Prior to shooting the video I recorded two identical passes of the MV-8000 Midi Pattern to separate audio tracks in ProTools. No editing, shifting or re-quantizing was performed on these takes at all. Pressing [Play] on the 003 Transport what you hear initially is these two ProTools audio tracks plus the MV-8000 pattern and the SH-101 running live. You can clearly hear the audio tracks and the live audio from the MV-8000 phasing and the tone of the phase itself does not change which indicates no drift in the sync. I then zoom in on the Mac G5 screen so you can see both audio tracks and the click quantize grid and how closely they line up. Next I mute the audio tracks playing in ProTools followed by the MV-8000 pattern leaving just the SH-101 in solo. I then un-mute just the audio tracks. Again you can hear the phasing is a constant between these two separate takes. I then wind back up the MV-8000 midi pattern volume. Next I tangle with the cranky SH-101 output socket and do one final mute of the two ProTools audio tracks before finishing off.
