  • The purpose of some dominicans that are clearly mixed is not to be called white, but to be recognized as what they really are, a mixture or races. People come on if you have African embrace it, but don't listen to others telling you to call your self black only. Embrace your European and Indigenous blood too. It is what makes you who you are.

  • @cilomanfreebsd Agreed but most African Americans are mixed as well from the Native Americans and White Slave masters our raped their ancestors.I think its a matter of perception and what you see yourself as which I see myself as black. And no matter how mixed I my be the government sees me as black as well. This video is for people who think Dominican is their actual race oppose to their nationally! Being as dark as Wesley Snipes but denying you have African roots.Ludicrous!!

  • @MsLoyal12 See my previous comment. As far as the word black, I think this is ultimately a discussion over two things: black African ancestry and a cultural group. AA's see black in a racial way, where DOM's see black in a cultural way. This is why many DOM's don't see themselves as black, because they see it in a cultural way. AA's tell DOM's that they are indeed black because AA's see it in a racial way. Fact is, most DOM's are indeed of black African ancestry, but only partially.

  • @MsLoyal12 I can agree. European heritage is viewed by many blacks as negative because of slavery. But in this society today, to view any racial group of people in a negative way is racist. So that means many blacks are indeed racist. Some blacks do not view it in a negative way, I would say they are not racist. Dom's and AA's are much alike. But Dom's seem to be more along a 50/50 racial pattern and AA's along a 75/25 racial pattern. Of course this is a generalization.

  • @blaqueeye I guarantee that most of the European ancestry in black Americans did not come from rape. It seems black Americans always want to point to this and make it the norm. Do you have proof of this? Because I'm sure there were relationships and arrangements. I know for a fact that in New Orleans in the early 1800's, black women were in relationships with white men, not rape. It's documented. These arrangements were called a placage.

  • @freeobo85261 Further more. Not all Blk Dominicans feel this way. Don't give the ignorant few all this creditability,Ignorance exists in all races. I have heard from the lips of some South American unimaginable statements. There is racism world wide. Here is why, its the alfa male mentality, all males desire superiority, Afro males are the most envied for our physicality, this creates fear and there fore we are under constant attack. I heard Jim Brown mention this and it opened my eyes.

  • I am Afro Cuban. I know that there are many misinformed people in my race, but that is their ignorance. They have been broken down by racism. The majority of Afro Cubans know our history, if you watch some of the Rumba Videos you will see evidence of this. We have kept our African traditions very strongly expressed in our music. Outside of Africa, I dare say that we have more connection with our roots than others... No put down intended, just fact.

  • damn im puerto rican and i love your accent.i love dominican women.i like them more than puerto rican women.ill take a dominican chick anyday of the week over a puerto rican chick

  • Im Dominican & I agree with u not only Africans were in our country but also Chinese slaves were bough over..the only problem I had u went all in on us but u didn't teach the Cubans their heritage? What's up with that:(?

  • @IslenoGutierrez Agreed. Part of the reason that AA's view their European heritage in such a negative way is becuz slavery went on in a much crueler and longer time in America.I think both groups need to focus on the fact that they are more alike than different. DOMS and AA's are ultimately the product of the African slave trade and therefore or both of mixed races. the more the similarities are highlighted the less misunderstanding will occur. Really the issue is just over one word..."Black"

  • @MsLoyal12 Dominicans in the United States see "black" as a cultural group of Americans of predominantly African descent. They do not feel connected to this group, therefore will tell you they "are not black". There was struggle for blacks in D.R., just like in the U.S., but Dominicans don't feel like they are blacks, but are mixed race mulattoes. They are connected to their European ancestry as well as their African, where AA's are not connected to their European ancestry.
