Water flowing up instead of down without a pump will baffle your science teacher and enlighten the class as to the true principles behind circulation in trees and plants.

This simple experiment should be shown in every science book and every budding scientist should at least observe it But preferably repeat these experiments in order to appreciate how important they are.
The Education Authority for now is hanging on to erroneous outdated textbook beliefs and misconceptions. Possibly to avoid embracing back peddling or merely to avoid rocking the somewhat unstable boat.

  • You need an HD camera to be taken seriously. I know the results of IBT are pretty amazing. But the quality of this video discredits you, in my opinion.

  • @greenfreeblue Better quality videos have been uploaded to InclinedTherapy account on Youtube. Hope you find them useful

  • Loved the explanation and the experiment, makes a lot of sense. Keep going Andrew

  • This helped to understand the Brixham Experiment, Keep going Andrew

  • If we add 10 mils of saline solution to the down-flow side at a give point, its journey down to the container at ground level will lift the entire contents of the other side of the tube. However a tree is not as open to the atmosphere as the experiment, so modification of the experiment is required in order to resemble the trees structure.

  • This can be repeated using a smaller tube to return the salts.

I have used a larger tube and even two smaller tubes on the lift side and the flow continues, so the bulk / weight of water on the opposite side to the downflow does not appear to counter the flow and return, though there will be a trade off to how much weight the experiment con hold at the top of the n due to the reduction in diameter. This can be worked around using several systems to raise water in stages.
