It's not cutting corners, he didn't actually use the term, but it's called modular design. You can't make everything from scratch over and over.

yea hey just fyi, half life 2's 4 year anniversary is in november. that means that hl2 came out almost 4 years ago. its good to see that NS is ready to join the modding community right at its peak, ya know, like 4 years too late

how can they even cut corners? they havent actually done anything yet, there are no corners to cut, its basically planning to slack off and do nothing, rather than waiting til the last minute to slack off and do nothing
