There's only one way your vote can matter, and not be wasted.

  • To add to your point, why even stop at political parties?

If I could go back, I'd vote for Ron Paul via write-in.

  • IF your state allows you to do so. And even then, IF they bother to count them.

  • We haven't had a 3rd party president since our 13th president, Millard Filmore in the 1850s.

    Just saying . . .

  • And yet, the socialists were able to get practically every plank of their 1928 platform enacted.

    Just saying...

  • In the words of some anarchist guy, if you don't vote laughing, don't vote at all.

    Mock the vote!

  • For me, the issue was decided when you reminded me that only two out of the 5-6 candidates are invited to the public debate. Meanwhile, the media gives Ron Pual what's effectively a passing mention, and the rest were just plain ignored. It's so bad that I don't even remember what their names were.

I agree; this stuff stifles democracy. Third Party Vote FTW.

  • "missing a crucial point: people do not decide in isolation whether or not they will vote. Thinking about the problem from the perspective of the individual voter misses the big picture entirely. A large body of evidence suggests that a single decision to vote in fact increases the likelihood that others will vote. It is well known that when you decide to vote it also increases the chance that your friends, family, and coworkers will vote. " Connected. Christakis, Fowler

  • "Does your vote matter?"

    The short answer: no.

  • "If you don't vote, they just write it off as apathy and no message will be sent. Why not go to the polls [voting booth] and turn in a blank ballot instead? Could you imagine if all of the non-voters did that, what message it would send?"

    You know something?

    After reading this: anarchyinyourhead(DOT)com/2008/10/14/if-you-vote-you-cant-complain ,

watching your videos and reading your comments on the subject, I've come to the conclusion that that's not a bad idea. :)

  • Not only that but because a vote for a third party candidate is also a vote for ballot access (no 100k USD's spent to get them back on the ballot next time.) :)

  • Jesus Christ...

    How Fascist is that?

This reminds me of a funny anecdote.

I went to vote for HC in the 2006 Primaries, but couldn't because I was an independent.

So I wasn't able to vote.

It's like the cartoon says: "I can't believe it's not democracy" (with a guy about to put a ballot into a box with a shredder on the inside)

  • You need to watch the video again, dude, seriously.
