How Many Cars Will A Marx 666 Pull- A LOT

How many cars will a cheap Marx 666 locomotive pull. Depends on your track, the type cars, how well maintained. A lot of potential variables, but here, 21 was a comfortable number. These engines usually came with 4-6 cars in a set. Anyway, it was fun experimenting.

I just purchased a 666 locomotive today. It has a southern Pacific Lines tender too, and came with two pieces of curved track. Can't wait to see it run.

great to see another Marx loco still running. i found that it can pull a heck of a lot of weight if you add a little bit of rubber (like automotive style rubber) to the rear drivers and leave the front set without and it will pull well more than 30 cars (i had 39 being pulled by my little 666). that engine wasn't struggling too badly either.

The 666 as well as the 1666 are very overlooked engines. They run and smoke nice and can be turned into great pullers.

I got to run my 666 yesterday. I oiled the gears and ran it around to work it in. I put about 5 drops of baby oil in the stack and was impressed with it. It does better than my plastic Lionel 243, which also has a smoke unit. The 666 smokes alot longer too.

@gigeastman So true, most of them have been destroyed over the years because of people's paranoia of the 666 number. They feel like they are taking the mark of the beast, as mentioned in Revelation 13:18.

Quite impressive. Those Marx motors just don't quit. What's more amazing is that the sideways force on the curves doesn't pull the cars off the track. Thanks for the demonstration.
