  • @LINDA230651 Most older band music has both cornet and trumpet parts. The cylindrical bore of the cornet lends are warming sound to the instrument making it more suitable for melodic work whereas the trumpet is usually utilized in punchy passages and occasionally for more dramatic passages.

  • Yes, there are trumpets in a brass band but they generally do not play the melody.
