Hm, that's an odd view of the Britpop bands. That they were sticking to their particular style in order to wave the british flag and being afraid of the immigrants taking over. I've never seen any britpop band in that light, bands like Oasis, Suede, Blur, and the newcomers. It's just a line of tradition, like for example country music, heavy metal, electro... They are not necessary bringing that much new to the music scene but it's really hard for me to see it as a sign of "flag waving".

She didnt speak english, but when she moved to London she began to learn and obviously adopted a british accent, being surrounded by british people so...

I'm in the UK but I have to agree with her on the britpop movement. All these british bands desperately trying to say british because the UK public are afraid of losing their identity via trying anything new. The truth is multiculturalism should be encouraged and its foolish to cling on to what you already know forever out of fear.
