Another one worth a peek is a 1930 movie trailer now on YouTube " King of Jazz: The Boys Of The Band" re the Paul Whiteman Orch (just post Bix) with a short Venuti-Lang duet the highlight.

Love the cartoon fanfare at the begining!

I've got the Savoy Hotel Orpheans version of "You are my Heart's Delight" and I'll put it on a compilation I'm planning of these early SHO discs. It's a purely instrumental version if memory serves me right. Howard Jacobs only went to Australia in 1936. After leaving the Savoy, Howard formed a band for the Berkeley Hotel (part of the Savoy group).

What a little gem from a bygone era . It's almost like something one would find in a time capsule sealed up 81 years ago !

Actually this record did get released about one month after your not for sale disc appeared..It sold very well. Also they did not move to Columbia, but Gibbons was persuaded by The Savoy Hotel to return to England and form a new band..Columbia offered the new band a contract to co-incide with the new residency at the Savoy..This is Gibbon's best band with Howard Jacobs co-leader..Jacobs left for Australia in late 1932 and the band became much more quiet an sweet in style after that
