Auscivics Film Festivals. Celebrating the Australian Way.

AusCivics Film Festivals -- 'Celebrating the Australian Way' is a national project under the authority of the Constitution Education Fund Australia (CEFA) and the patronage of the Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia.

Young Australians are becoming increasingly disengaged with the systems and values that underpin the Australian way of life. More than 50% of Australia's youth don't know or don't care that Australia is a democracy and 1.4 million eligible voters are not enrolled for the 2010 Federal Election. These alarming statistics illustrate the need for the AusCivics project which is a natural extension of CEFA's work of many years.

The House of Representatives determined in 2009 that there is a great need in Australia for a broad based education effort around the Australian Constitution and its direct relevance in making possible our privileged Australian way of life.

AusCivics has been designed as a 10 year national campaign to drive this awareness through the Australian community, with a goal to make civics education, local government and the values that are the foundation of our democracy 'cool by association', especially for young Australians.
