Of course you're right. I meant that in opposite to e minor. An E 7th is an E major, too.

No, it's an E 7th. you put your pinkie on the d note, second string, then you move the pinkie down to c sharp and back to d., while holding the E 7 chord. try it. then you go to am and drop your first finger down to cover the f. good luck
