The man, the music, the VOICE, Marvin Gaye.
In my opinion he should've won more than just the two grammys for "sexual healing" in 1983. They dissed him on the single, I Heard It Through the Grapevine in 1968; What's Going On, the single and the album in 1971; the Let's get it on album and single, 1973; the I Want You album and single, 1976. And the single Got to give it up in 1977. These songs were all nominated for grammys. Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder dominated the 70's in R&B.

On this day in 1964 {December 23rd} Marvin Gaye performed "Hitch Hike" on the ABC-TV program 'Shindig!'...
Twenty three months earlier on January 12th, 1963 it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #30 and spent 12 weeks on the Top 100...
It reached #12 on the Billboard's R&B chart...
Martha & the Vandellas sang back-up on the song...
Marvin Gaye passed away on April 1st, 1984; the day before his 45th birthday...

shindig started out attempting to get Beatles , Elvis on the show. When they snubbed the show , they sought out to get the best R&B performers with top hits that werent getting much tv exposure because of race or what not/ . Result . Smash hit
